Key Sciences

Experiments using MSM containing radiolabeled sulfur have shown that following ingestion, MSM releases its sulfur to form collagen and keratin.

(Jacob, S.W: The Current Status of MSM in Medicine. Am. Acad. Med. Prev., 1983.

Richmond, V.L.: Incorporation of Methylsulfonylmethane into Guinea Pig Serum Proteins. Life Sciences 1986, vol. 39, pp 263-268.)

Glucosamine is used by the body to make something called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid forms part of the skin’s connective tissue. It attracts up to 1000 times its weight in water, keeping the skin hydrated. It is your body’s natural moisturizer.

It plays an important role in tissue repair and collagen synthesis.

Hyaluronic acid is a very large molecule, and cannot be directly absorbed by the body. One of the most effective ways of increasing its levels in the body is to supplement with one of its component parts, glucosamine.

Biotin has been shown to greatly improve the quality of both the hair and the nails.

(Pol Med J. 1966;5(2):447-52, Effect of biotin on hair roots and sebum excretion in women with diffuse alopecia, Pawlowski A, Kostanecki W.)

Silica has shown to have very positive effects on the quality of skin, hair and nails.

(Arch Dermatol Res. 2005 Oct;297(4):147-53. Epub 2005 Oct 26, Effect of oral intake of choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid on skin, nails and hair in women with photodamaged skin, Barel A, Calomme M, Timchenko A, De Paepe K, Demeester N, Rogiers V, Clarys P, Vanden Berghe D.)
